Original item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of the classic German Wehrmacht LP-34 signal flare pistol, complete with an original period German holster. The Leuchtpistol 34, which was designed in 1934, has an aluminum alloy frame and barrel with steel moving components, uses 26.5 mm flares, and was finished in black anodized aluminum. Steel components were blued. It superseded the previous LP28, which was made of all steel, as part of a continuing evolution of Walther-designed flare pistols.

The change to the "duralumin" reduced the weight of the pistol by 0.730 kg, and also partially prevents internal corrosion due to gun powder residue. The overall machine work of the components was improved over the LP28, and the wood grips were replaced by checkered bakelite. Most importantly, the trigger guard was made significantly larger, so that the pistol could be used easily even with a gloved hand.

This example bears original German maker code ac, which stands for Carl Walther AG, located in Zella-Mehlis, Thuringia. Walther is the original developer of the LP 28 and 34 pistols, as well as the famous line of PP Pocket Pistols, and the P-38 Service pistol. Below this is it stamped with the manufacture date of [19]43, and it has serial number 2190 above the trigger guard and on the barrel hinge. It is nicely Waffenamt marked on the right side of the frame and barrel, with inspector number 359. It also has the interesting Eagle over a "Tree inside Inverted Heart" stamping, which is apparently for Thuringia, the "Green Heart" of Germany.

Completely Original German WWII manufacture in good complete condition with later war flat-sided black bakelite checkered grip panels with rounded edges, which are in excellent condition.

The pistol is clean and still has a good amount of the black anodized finish on the barrel, and the frame has almost all of it. The steel components still have their original heavy blued finish. It still has the original lanyard ring, which is the fixed type, so it does not screw out. The pistol breaks open correctly, and has a functional ejector and firing pin.

The holster is in solid condition, but is used and worn through the leather in places. It still has both belt loops and shoulder strap rings attached, and the closure strap is still in place. It has the retaining strap for the cleaning rod, however the bottom "cup" that holds it has torn off, and there are some stitched repairs at the bottom of the holster. The leather is worn through in two places on the back of the holster, probably from rubbing against the belt of the soldier who wore it. There is a faded maker mark on the inside of the top flap, which is only partly legible, indicating manufacture in the German City of STUTTGART in 1937.
